Many people will be very sad to hear the news that Donato (David) Forte passed away in Mortale yesterday. The eldest son of Augusto Forte and Domenica Morelli, Donato was born in Mortale a couple of years after the war and grew up in the local area. Although he then spent most of his working life in England, he remained a true Mortalese, who not only knew everyone in the Casalattico area, but knew every inch of our mountains too.
He was a charming, modest, and generous man, always so very welcoming and hospitable to everyone he met. A loving brother to Lucia, Mario and Tony, and an integral part of the dream team who ran such a successful and popular catering business in St. Leonards, Sussex, for many years. He will be so missed by them, his sisters-in-law, his nephews, nieces, cousins and all the family and friends who were privileged to know him. Everyone will always remember his kindness and will never forget his wicked sense of humour and all his wonderfully entertaining stories and fascinating tales of the past.
