Adelfa Randolfi

We are sad to have just heard the news that Adelfa passed away this morning, less than a month since the passing of her husband, Tony.

Adelfa was always the life and soul of Mortale, and many of us will remember her kindness, her sense of humour and her love for family and friends.  She was often spotted foraging in the mountains, tending her garden, or bottling and preserving her produce for the winter, and we will all miss her and her enthusiasm for village life and old traditions when we next return.

Tony and Adelfa were always inseparable, and we hope that they may now rest in peace together.  Our condolences go once again to their children, Silvano, Sergio, Silvio, and Mo, and to all their partners, children, grandchildren and extended family, as well as to her brother, Nino, and sister, Maria, to their families and to the family of her late brother, Carluccio.

Tony Barbieri

We were all very sorry to hear of the death of Antonio (Tony) Barbieri on 25th January at the age of 91. Together with his wife Adelfa, Tony retired from working in the hotel and restaurant business in England to live in Mortale many years ago. He was much loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.

Our condolences go to Adelfa, to their “boys”, Silvano, Sergio, Silvio, Mo, and to all their partners, children, grandchildren and extended family.

A New Baby in the Family

Congratulations to Gavin and Gabriella Jones on the birth of their beautiful baby girl, a lovely new sister for Hayden.  Avie Christine was was born at 2.55 pm last Saturday in Guildford, weighing in at 3.665 kg. Gavin is the son of Lucia Forte from Mortale and the late Neil Jones from Australia, and grandson of the late Camillo and Annunziata Forte from Mortale and Burnham-on-Sea.  Gabriella is the daughter of Marcello Fortuna from Atina, and Cristina Roselli, who also originates from the Casalattico area, so Avie is very much a Ciociara baby.

Welcome to the family, Avie!
